West Indies announced ODI Squad against India for the series, Shimron Hetmyer is back in the ODI squad.
West Indies are hosting India for an all-format series and in a recently concluded test series between two teams India emerged victorious, winning the series by 1-0. Both teams have started their World Test Championship journey (2023–25), and India started with a bang with a victory over the West Indies in the test series. Now both teams are heading towards their ODI series, which would start on July 27th. The first match would be played at Kensington Oval, Barbados. The West Indies have called back some great players in the team squad, and left-handed Shimron Hetmyer is one of them. Apart from Hetmyer, Oshane Thomas is also included in the 15-player squad.
Shimron Hetmyer, after a long time considered in the ODI team as the left-handed batter last played his ODI match back in 2021 against Australia, He last played a match donning the West Indian jersey last year for a T20I match against New Zealand, and now he finally got the chance to play for his team. He was part of the West Indies for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, but he missed his flight for Australia due to which he was dropped from the team. Since then, he has been out of the West Indies side and played only in the IPL this year, where he played some decent innings with his bat while playing for the Rajasthan Royals, scoring 299 runs in the 13 matches he played.
