Ex-Pakistan’s Cricketer Aamer Sohail brutal remarks on Naseem Shah during Pak vs SL test match.
Former Pakistan cricketer and now cricket expert Aamer Sohail, during the Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka first test match, passed some remarks on Pakistan’s bowler Naseem Shah that weren’t appreciated by Pakistan’s cricket fans. Pakistan in their first innings got all out after making 461 runs, leading the run board by 149 runs. Credit goes to their left-handed batter Saud Shakeel, who not only scored his double century but also dragged Pakistan out of trouble when the whole Pakistan’s innings was trembling at 101-5. Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman partnership of 177 runs took Pakistan to a strong position, but when Sri Lanka was looking for the 9th wicket, a comment made by former Pakistan Cricketer Aamer Sohail caused uproar on social media.
When Aamer Sohail was joined by Ramiz Raja on commentary during the match, Ramiz Raja brought the batting skills of Naseem into the conversation as the tailender was patiently holding one end of the crease and played 78 balls scoring just 6 runs, helping Saud Shakeel to go from the other. Ramiz, on air, said
“Naseem doesn’t have any problem developing the batting muscle”
Ramiz Raja said
To which Aamer Sohail replied
“There is another muscle he needs to develop, the brain muscle. He will become a better cricketer and bowler,”
Sohail replied
The statements sparked controversy, and Pakistan cricket fans started reminding the former Pakistan batter about the incident that happened in the 1996 World Cup when he was bowled by Venkatesh Prasad after the batter provoked him just one ball earlier when he hit him for a boundary. Coming to Pakistan’s innings, top-order batters didn’t have a good day, but Saud Shakeel’s unbeaten 208 runs off 361 balls helped Pakistan lead the game before getting all out. Post-match, left-hander shared what was on his mind during play.
“When I went in to bat, I wanted to attack,” Shakeel said. “If I had tried to be defensive we would have got bowled out for 150. That’s the reason I attacked and was able to take the game deep,
Shakeel said.
