Umran Malik was born on November 22, 1999, in Gujjar Nagar, Jammu, to Abdul Rashid (his father) and Seema Begum (his mother). His father is a fruit seller by profession and has always encouraged him in his cricket journey. Umran started his cricket journey when he was 17 years old and played Tennis ball cricket initially. His talent was first noticed by Randhir Singh Manhas when Umran Malik came to Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu. Later, he started training young talent.

Coming to his education profile, Umran Malik is a secondary (10th standard) dropout and did his initial schooling in a Private School in Jammu. After dropping out of school, he gave his complete energy to Cricket and started training under his coach, Randhir Singh Manhas. Despite training hard and performing well on the field, he didn’t get to play a single match for the Jammu and Kashmir team. Umran Malik made his debut for Jammu and Kashmir in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in a T20 match against Railways, and in that match, he showed his shear pace and talent to the opposition and took 3 wickets in his four-over spell. His performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy earned him a spot in his state’s team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and he made his List-A debut playing against Bengal, though his debut in List-A didn’t go well as he picked up only 1 wicket and his team lost the match. He made his first-class debut in 2021 for India A against South Africa A.

IPL Career:

His pace earned him a spot as a net bowler in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team during IPL 2021, and he got the chance to make his IPL debut after Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler Sandeep Sharma got injured. In his first match against Kolkata Knight Riders, he impressed everyone with his pace, as the youngster was clocking 145+ in his first over, and in his match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he bowled an entire over showing his pace, where he clocked 150+. As a result, he was then selected as a net bowler of the Indian team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

International Career:

Umran Malik had his International debut in June 2022 when he was selected for the T20I match against Ireland, earlier he was selected in the Indian squad against South Africa but didn’t get the chance to play his first T20I match, he had his ODI debut in November 2022 against New Zealand where he took his first One Day International wicket after dismissing Devon Conway. His first T20I wicket was Lorcan Tucker while playing against Ireland in 2022.
