Rio de Janeiro gave the anti-racism law name ‘Vini Jr law,’ which is in the name of Vinicius Jr, who is a Real Madrid player after some fans of Valencia racially abused him during the match in May.

The latest incident happened on Sunday, 21 May 2023, when he played against Valencia in La Liga. After an altercation with Hugo Duro, he was sent off for violent conduct in the 97th minute. Earlier in the game, he tried to point out fans who were chanting racist slurs at him to the referee, but nothing was done. He said after the match that “La Liga belongs to racists” and “Spain is known as a country of racists.” Real Madrid reported the incident as a hate crime to the Spanish prosecutor’s office.

The Brazilian government also condemned the episode and urged the Spanish authorities to take action. Fifa president Gianni Infantino said it was time to “stop talking, start acting” and set out five points to deal with racism. This was not the first time Vinicius Jr faced racist abuse in Spain. In February 2023, Mallorca fans called him a monkey in their stadium. He has also been abused by fans of Espanyol, Atletico Madrid, and Sevilla in previous matches. Racism is a serious problem in football and society, and it should have no place in either.

Vinicius said, thankyou to his Brazilian government and all supporters who recently came together for him. They played a friendly match against Spain at the Real’s Bernabeu Stadium in which everyone wore the black uniform to support Anti-racism.

This event can be a big step for future players so the fans will respect all races, humans, and all football players worldwide, no matter their color and race. He played 225 matches together in which he scored 59 goals and gave 64 assists.
