BCCI promises a higher salary for the new chief selector, Ajit Agarkar.

Ajit Agarkar becomes the new chief of the India Senior men’s team committee, and some reports say that he applied for the post after getting assurance from the BCCI on the pay he would get, which would be the highest ever given to any chief selector before Ajit Agarkar. Previously, the pay package of the committee’s chairperson was Rs 1 crore, and the other four members were getting Rs 90 lakh per year, but for Ajit Agarkar, this pay package would change as he was already earning a lot more from commentary and corporate events, and to make the post more lucrative, a higher pay was promised to him. According to reports, Agarkar was the only one the panel of the cricket advisory committee interviewed.

The old age convention of the BCCI of including all the five zones in the selectors committee has also been broken, as now the five-member selectors committee has two members from the West Zone, Ajit Agarkar (West Zone) and Salil Ankola (West Zone), and the other three members are Subroto Banerjee (Central Zone), S Sharath (South Zone), and SS Das (East Zone). There is no one from the North Zone in the committee as the BCCI didn’t find a potential candidate from the North Zone. All-rounder Ajit Agarkar had the strongest Resume when he applied for the post, and with such a vast experience of playing international matches for India, he is definitely going to make big changes in selections, as the new chairperson and his team did by giving youngsters an opportunity to show their skills in the upcoming T20I series.

The T20I squad selection was the first assignment for the newly appointed chief, and the 15-player squad has been announced, which doesn’t have big names like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as Hardik Pandya will lead the team in the T20 series against the West Indies.
