Rohan Bopanna is disappointed for being the only Indian at Wimbledon at the age of 43
Rohan Bopanna will partner with Matthew Ebden to compete at Wimbledon, and in March, they both won the Indian Wells Masters 2023 against Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof by 6-3, 2-6, 10-8.
Bopanna is the only Indian who is going to play in Wimbledon, which makes him really sad because he said that even though I’m at age 43 playing for his country, there are no other countrymen who are going to play in Wimbledon, so I can be happy and support him/her.
Sania Mirza was the last countrymate who played in Wimbledon and partnered with him, but after Australian Open, she retired. They both reached the final of mixed doubles but lost in the final after that, Sania Mirza retired, which made Bopanna more lonely as he said that Tennis was already a lonely game, and not having the countrymen is quite sad for me because here he is playing the professional tennis at the age of 43, but there is no other India who able to play in the main events of tennis.
Rohan Bopanna is a Grand Slam champion and also won the ATP Tour 24 times. In 2023 he became a pro in tennis, but right from the start, he had trouble competing against the top players worldwide in the men’s single category. He soon realized that in the single category, he would not thrive, so he focused on men’s doubles and mixed doubles categories in which he had all the major trophies.
The first title he won was in 2008 after he won the Los Angeles Open with American partner Eric Butorac. In 2010 and 2011, he partnered with Pakistani tennis player Aisam-ul–Haq Qureshi and won four major titles. At the year 2012 end, he partnered with his countryman Mahesh Bhupathi and won two titles. In 2017 he played with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan won Chennai Open, and in 2022 he partnered with Ramkumar Ramanathan to win Adelaide International and Maharashtra Open.
He is now partnered with Matthew Ebden, who is from Australia, and together they won Qatar Open and Indian Wellls Masters in 2023.
Bopanna is sad about the tennis system in India, and it should change because people in India do not take tennis as a sport. They don’t get sad when any rising Indian Tennis player does not perform well in major events.
