Andy Murray wants to end his 7-year Grand Slam drought in the Wimbledon 2023
Andy Murray said that only Djokovic has more Wimbledon experience than him and wants to end his 7-year drought in the Grand Slam, as the last time he won the Grand Slam was in 2016.
Wimbledon is now on from July 3rd, 2023, as the first round will be played on the 3rd and 4th of July, and Andy Murray will be looking to have a great comeback in tennis after missing the Italian Open. In 2013 Murray became the first British player in 90 years to win Wimbledon, but it has been a decade.
Andy Murray feels that his best play comes on a grass court, which many players struggle to play on, but he became two-time Wimbledon champions in 2013 and 2016. He feels he can win the Wimbledon this time after being knocked out in many knockout stages from January to June. The only big threat for him is Novak Djokovic, who regains his number 1 spot after winning the record-breaking 23rd grand slam most by any male player in the history of tennis.
The 2022 Wimbledon champion Nick Kyrgios pulled out from the tournament after a knee injury and is still not fully recovered, giving Murray a great chance to win his 3rd Grand Slam, which might be his last because he is even considering retirement from tennis after this year.
I want to go out there and perform at a level that I’m happy with. I do feel like I’m in a really, really good position to do that. I have the experience at this tournament, playing on the big courts here,”
There’s only one player in the draw that has more experience of playing here than me, which is Novak. I need to use that to my advantage and use my experience to my advantage and take confidence from that,”
Andy Murray said in his interview
He also said that he does not believe he is the best grass-court player, but he feels quite good physically and well-prepared for the long-awaited tournament because he won it twice. He is also nervous as it is his last chance to show the world that he is one of the former ranked 1st players, which he achieved in 2016.
