Netherlands vs Sri Lanka Match Prediction: Netherlands will face one of the toughest competitions in the next match against Sri Lanka when both teams play the 2nd ICC World Cup Qualifiers Super Six match on June 30th, 2023.

The Netherlands team always does some magic in big events like World Cup, as they did in the last match against West Indies by winning the match in the super over against West Indies, which gave them a huge target to chase. Recently, they defeated South Africa in the T20 ICC World Cup to give Pakistan team a ticket to the semi-final.

West Indies had an amazing start putting in 100 runs opening partnership, and then Nicholas Pooran smashed down 104 runs in just 65 balls to put up a huge total of 374 runs in 50 overs which was already an impossible score to chase down under pressure by any top class team also, but Netherland has been one of the best team when it comes to chasing an impossible score. They chased down 190 runs in 13.5 overs in the 2021 T20 to be in the Super 10 of the ICC World Cup.

Netherlands also started quite decent with their opening partnership as they put up 76 runs for the 1st wicket, and after that, every batter contributed something for the team while batting, but it was Teja Nidamanuru‘s innings that gave Netherlands hope to chase down the huge target but in the end they just able to level it up as they wanted 1 run in 1 ball but Logan Van Beek shot went straight to Jason Holder hand to take the match into super over. In the super over, Logan Van Beek scored 30 runs in the holder over to give 31 run target to West Indies, which they failed to chase and lost by 23 runs. They are not the team Sri Lanka will take lightly.

Sri Lanka is the 2nd team who won all its matches in the group stage of qualifiers and is one of the top contenders to qualify for the main world cup event in India. They won their last match against Scotland even though they were already qualified for the Super Six. Still, they played with the same team to keep the winning momentum. They won the match by 82 runs which was a convincing win by the side. Batting first, they did has disappointing batting performance as they could only score 245 runs as most of the players did not look in good touch, and only Asalanka scored 50+ runs for the team.

Sri Lanka’s bowling was quite impressive in the match as they bowled out Scotland on just 163, as all the bowlers of Sri Lanka took wickets. Maheesh Theekshana showed his skill and took 3 wickets to become the player of the match. He was happy with his performance and said that his strength is bowling with a new ball which he showed against Scotland.

Team Preview Netherlands

The Netherlands team has been one of the most impressive teams in recent years, as they won against big teams like South Africa and recently they defeated West Indies in a high-scoring thriller. The way the team did not give up after getting a huge target of 375 was a commendable effort by them.

The bowling unit needs to improve itself because they had hard math last time against West Indies as their batter smashed Netherlands bowlers quite hard and put up a huge total. Teja Nidamanuru and Logan Van Beek was the star performer for them in the last match against the West Indies, and because of them, they were able to take the match into Super Over.

Important players for the Netherlands team in the match against Sri Lanka

1- Scott Edwards once again stood tall for his team as a captain in the last match and scored 67 runs in just 47 balls, scored 83 runs in the first match against the Zimbabwe side, and 67 in his last match. He is a consistent run scorer for his team, clearly showing that he is the backbone of the Netherlands batting lineup. He scored 207 runs in just three matches, clearly showing his ability to score for the team in a pressure situation and playing captain innings repeatedly.

Still soaking it in. Can’t play a better individual game of cricket. They batted sensationally. We bowled well in patches. We thought we conceded 60 more. We had the belief though. That innings from Teja and van Beek was special. We pride ourselves on our running. You hit gaps and run hard. Logan was in a bit of a trance. I don’t think he was listening to me. He was hitting everything for fours and sixes. This was going to be a massive game for us. To go in with two points is good.

Scott Edwards said in the post match

2- Teja Nidamanuru was fantastic in the last match against West Indies after scoring a century to give his team a chance to fight for victory. He scored 172 runs in 4 matches which is amazing batting by him, but he has a great ability to keep on scoring like he did in the last match. He played 16 ODI matches in which he scored 489 runs with an average of 37.61.

3- Logan van Beek has been one of the senior players for the team and gives a bit of security in the lower order because of his powerful hitting that won the match for the team in the super over. Till now, he has taken 6 wickets and scored 48 runs, plus he also scored 30 runs in a super over.

Team Preview of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka will be going as a favorite to win the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023, but then they keep on doing the same performance, again and again, to qualify for the main event of the World Cup. They did not have a very good match with the bat in the last match against Scotland, but they had an amazing bowling performance which stopped the Scotland team from a lower score.

The Sri Lanka team used to be the top side to reach the top four of every main event of ICC, but since 2015 their performance started to keep on dropping because many legendary players Like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene took retirement from cricket, and management of Sri Lanka failed to give their young player same environment which led them to drop the performance.

Important players for the Sri Lanka team in the match against the Netherlands

1- Wanindu Hasaranga is the top wicket-taker in the tournament, and in the last match, he took two wickets once again. He took 18 wickets in 4 matches, which is quite amazing for any bowler.

2- Pathun Nissanka, at last, played the innings he was known for in the last match after a long time as he scored 75 runs and will be important in the next match against the Netherlands side because they have quite good opening bowlers who can trouble him, but he has the skill and quality. He was getting started in every match but could not convert it into a bigger score. He scored 189 runs in 4 matches with an average of 63.

3- Maheesh Theekshana will be important against the Netherlands because they are not really good with spin bowling, and Theekshana is having a good time bowling in the tournament as he picked up 6 wickets in 4 matches.

It will be an exciting match of ICC World Cup Qualifiers Super Six between Netherlands vs Sri Lanka.
