PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal Maintain Rankings, Ruthvika Shivani Shows Improvement in BWF Rankings

Indian badminton players PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal held their respective rankings in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings, while Ruthvika Shivani made significant progress. Sindhu remained at the 12th spot in women’s singles, while Nehwal gained a position to become the world number 30. Shivani showed the most substantial upward movement, climbing four places to secure the 67th spot.

In men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty retained their third position, while Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun maintained their 25th position. The rankings in women’s doubles remained unchanged, with Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand securing the 16th position. The new duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto moved up one place to reach 61st.

In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy climbed one spot to occupy the 32nd position. India’s top men’s singles player, HS Prannoy, rose to the eighth position in the latest BWF rankings. However, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth experienced a drop in rankings, with Sen at 19th place and Srikanth at 20th place.

In the recently concluded Taipei Open, Indian shuttlers were unable to deliver standout performances, failing to make a significant impact in the tournament.

The steady rankings of Sindhu and Nehwal reflect their consistent performances and solid presence in the women’s singles category. Meanwhile, Ruthvika Shivani’s upward movement is a positive sign for her career trajectory.
