Indian cricket team veteran Virender Sehwag recently revealed the superstition that former India captain MS Dhoni had throughout the ICC World Cup 2011, in which he ate khichdi throughout the whole tournament. Virender Sehwag revealed Dhoni’s superstition at the ICC event in Mumbai, where the ICC announced the upcoming World Cup fixtures, because this time India will be hosting the entire ICC tournament. India last hosted the ICC World Cup in 2011, but as a co-host, he further said that everybody was following their superstition during the tournament, and Dhoni was one of them. Speaking to Star Sports, the veteran said:
“Everyone was having some or the other superstition, and everyone was following theirs. MS Dhoni had a superstition of having ‘khichdi’ all through the World Cup,” saying that even if I’m not scoring runs but this superstition is working, and we’re winning matches.”

Ten teams would be seen in action in the ICC World Cup 2023 tournament, and one would lift the title. Last time it was England in 2019, and this time the pressure on team India to win the ICC title would be much greater as they have a huge opportunity in hand to end the ICC trophy drought as it has been more than a decade since India lifted any ICC trophy. Last time India got an ICC title to its name was in 2013. 2019 World Cup champions England would be taking on New Zealand in the first match of the World Cup 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, and India would start its campaign on October 8 in Chennai, battling against Australia.
Eight teams are already on the list of fixtures, and two teams are still to qualify for the World Cup. After the ICC qualifier matches, those two teams will be added to the list of matches.
