Conor McGregor suffers 4th consecutive loss in TUF season 31
Conor McGregor’s poor form in The Ultimate Fighter season 31 continues, as he is now 4 down in the TUF season 31 fight against Michael Chandler. The fighters on Conor McGregor’s team have been tasting defeats in the cage ever since the season started and are yet to win a round in the fourth fight of the season. Chandler’s team fighter, Timur Valiev, won the fight by unanimous decision over Trevor Wells. Timur Valiev, after taking a significant strike from Trevor Wells in the opening minute of the first round, revived himself well and started using his ground game where Wells looked weak, and his opponent went on to score points. In round 2, Trevor Wells increased his striking on the feet, but Timur tackled it properly and took him to the mat this time as well.
Though in the last few minutes of the round both fighters fought on their feet, the judges, after two rounds, scored the fight in favor of the Russian. It was the closest fight of the season so far, but the final story didn’t change as Conor McGregor’s team finished on the losing side this time as well, downing the team to 0-4. The next fight would be between Brad Katona and Carlos Vera, and McGregor would be thinking of opening their win account in the season, expecting that Carlos Vera would close the first win for the team McGregor in The Ultimate Fighter season 31.
UFC president Dana White and Conor were surprised that the fight didn’t go to the third round, seeing how close it was, but the judges decisions were final, and they scored in favor of Timur Valiev, though Dana White praised Wells after the fight by saying
“Trevor showed some great defence against the cage when Timur got him in a body triangle. He wanted to stand and bang, he landed a couple of good shots and wouldn’t let Timur take him down. The difference in experience didn’t seem to be a factor in round one.”
