Cristiano Ronaldo Scores Record-Breaking 200th International Appearance Goal in Euro 2024 Qualifier Win Against Iceland.

Cristiano Ronaldo achieved a milestone in his career on Tuesday night as he became the first men’s football player to make 200 international appearances, scoring the winning goal in Portugal's 1-0 win against Iceland in their Euro 2024 qualifier match.

Cristiano Ronaldo achieved a milestone in his career on Tuesday night as he became the first men’s football player to make 200 international appearances. Portugal defeated Iceland 1-0 in their Euro 2024 qualifier match at Estádio Algarve, and it was Ronaldo who scored the winning goal in the 89th minute.

The 35-year-old forward moved up to the milestone after overtaking Kuwait’s Bader Al-Mutawa’s 196-cap record back in March. Ronaldo was honoured by Guinness World Records before the match at Estádio Algarve for reaching 200 international appearances.

The Portugal captain started his career with Sporting CP, where he made 31 competitive appearances in 2002/03 season. He then joined Manchester United and went on to make 292 appearances during six years at Old Trafford, scoring 118 goals for the English side. In 2009, Real Madrid purchased Ronaldo from United and he spent nine seasons with Los Merengues, appearing in 438 matches and becoming their all-time top scorer with 450 goals.

More recently, Ronaldo joined Juventus in 2018 and has already featured 50 times for the Italian champions, scoring 34 goals. He also became the fastest player to score 350 Serie A goals, doing so in just 488 appearances.

Prior to Tuesday night’s game, Ronaldo had collected 186 caps for Portugal – who he made his international debut with back in 2003. This milestone appearance ended up being a special one as it saw him scoring the winning goal late on against Iceland, ensuring Portugal three points from their Euro 2024 qualifier match.

Overall, Ronaldo’s incredible career has seen him become one of the most decorated footballers of all time.
