Karolina Muchova makes it into her first Grand Slam final after defeating World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka
The amazing feat of unseeded Karolina Muchova is still going on as she defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-final of the French Open by a scoreline of 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 7-5 to reach her first Grand Slam final.
Muchova is currently ranked 43 in the world, but the way she played in the French Open is a clear message from her that she does not look at ranks when she plays, and in tennis, anything can happen as she gave an amazing effort to win against world number 2 Sabalenka.
Karolina Muchova should be named a giant killer because, from time to time, she won matches against the top three, and now it was her 5th win against the Top 3 ranked player in women’s tennis. She can win her first grand slam if she is able to beat Iga Swiatek in the final of the French Open.
Iga Swiatek won her match against Beatriz Haddad Maia in a straight set of 6-2 and 7-6 (9-7). Many tennis legends tweeted about the match between Muchova and Sabalenka.
Patrick Mouratoglou said that after a long time, he saw the best semi-final match. Swiatek also said that she played many matches against Muchova as they both played many practice matches against each other since 2019 and also she knows how Muchova plays, which is a positive thing for her in the final of the French Open.
“I still feel like I know Karolina’s game anyway because I played many practices with her since 2019, and I also watch her actually more than most of the players. Just a coincidence, but it happened,”
“And I really like her game, honestly. I really respect her, and she’s I feel like a player who can do anything, you know. She has great touch. She can also speed up the game,”
Swiatek said in the interview
Iga Swiatek is the defending champion of the French Open (Roland Garros), and if she wins the match against Muchova in the final, then she will become the 2nd woman to defend her Roland Garros title. The first woman to defend her title was Justine Henin, who defended her title in 2007.
