Moeen Ali to replace injured Jack leach fo the Ashes 2023?

After winning the one-off test match against Ireland, England is now focusing on the five-test Ashes series, which starts on June 16. During the one-off test match with Ireland, their spinning spearhead Jack Leach got injured, leaving England without a front-line spinner who could lead the spinning attack in the upcoming Ashes series, as Jack Leach is one of the most consistent bowlers featuring in test matches for England finding his replacement is a challenge but all-rounder Moeen Ali has the potential to replace him. He was diagnosed with a back stress fracture, due to which he won’t be seen in action during the Ashes 2023, which is going to happen in England this time.

Moeen Ali played his last test match in September 2021 against India, during which he announced his retirement from the longest format of cricket. Moeen Ali has played 64 test matches for England, making 914 runs at an average of 28.29 and taking 195 wickets. As per some media reports, England’s management approached Moeen Ali about a potential return to test cricket for the off-spinner. England’s management is also approaching other players like Liam Dawson, Rehan Ahmed, and Will Jacks for the Ashes series against Australia.

The all-rounder has a great record in home conditions, and this time as well he can prove himself to be a valuable asset, but his return to test cricket is still skeptical. Bowlers like Rehan Ahmed could replace the left-arm off spinner, as he showed his potential already in the test series against Pakistan. Former England team captain and cricket expert Nasser Hussain made some statements recently.

Moeen is the third leading spin bowler in Test cricket for England. He has 195 Test wickets, he knows that ground [Edgbaston] very well, he’s a fabulous cricketer. He’s very experienced, and obviously with all their [Australia] left-handers, Moeen Ali is a wonderful bowler to left-handers. “Ahmed is a very confident young man, as we saw in Pakistan. I would personally go for him as he is the attacking option. Trust him and give him a go, he’s not let you down in the one Test he’s played.
