India Hockey Triumphs at Asia Cup: 4-Time Champions Secure a Spot in World Cup!

The Indian men's junior hockey team clinched victory in the Asia Cup for the fourth time, having already qualified for the FIH Men's Junior World Cup in Malaysia.

The Indian men’s junior hockey team have once again shown their continental dominance by winning the Asia Cup for the fourth time. India faced Pakistan in the final of the tournament, which was held on Thursday evening, and emerged victorious with a score of 2-1. 

Angad Bir Singh opened the scoring for India in the 13th minute, and Araijeet Singh Hundal doubled their lead in the 20th. Pakistan managed to pull one goal back through Abdul Basharat in the 37th minute but it was not enough to stop India from clinching the title. 

The triumph marks India’s fourth Asia Cup win having also won in 2004, 2008 and 2015, while Pakistan have won the tournament in 1987, 1992 and 1996. India have now qualified for the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup which will be taking place in Malaysia later this year. 

The win is a huge achievement for India who displayed fantastic team spirit throughout the tournament. They were also undefeated throughout their run to victory, beating Malaysia, Bangladesh and Japan in the group stages before sinking South Korea in the semi-finals.
