Prannoy HS won Malaysia Masters 2023
The Indian badminton star Prannoy HS won the final of the Malaysia Masters title after defeating China’s Weng Hong Yang in a tough competitive match by 21-19, 13-21, 21-18 to win his first BWF World Tour Title.
The final was in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, May 28, 2023, in which the Indian top-ranked player Prannoy HS claimed victory in the final. It was the first time that Prannoy and Weng Yang went against each other. The match’s first game went to Prannoy after a hard-fought battle between the two players. In the midway of the first set, both players had 15-15 points, but after that, Prannoy just grabbed 2 points back to back and took the lead till the match ended in favor of Prannoy.
The second set was dominated and won by Weng Hong Yang against Prannoy as he won the set easily by 13-21 to even the set wins to 1-1 to lead the match to the final set of the game. The Final set was a hard-fought battle, but in the end, Prannoy won the match by 21-18 even though they both were even till 18-18. In the end, Prannoy won three successive points to win the match by 21-18.
It was the first BWF title for Prannoy, which is going to give him a huge boost for the qualifying cycle for the Paris 2024 Olympics, in which he will look to grab the medal. However, Prannoy has recently been dropped from number 7 rank to number 9 because of bad performance in the Sudirman Cup, but after clinching the title of the Malaysia Master in the next cycle of ranking, he is going to gain a few positions for sure.
I think there are too many emotions. The last six years have been too much of a rollercoaster. I didn’t expect that it will happen after six years, to be honest. I mean if you would have asked me in 2017 I don’t think I would have told you that I will win in 2023. So lots of mixed emotions,”
