Saurav Ganguly extols MS Dhoni’s captaincy skills.

The Indian cricket legend and former BCCI president Saurav Ganguly lauded MS Dhoni’s captaincy skills recently, praising him for the success of the Chennai Super Kings in this IPL season, as the franchise performed poorly last season and didn’t manage to qualify for the playoffs and ended second last in the points table, just above the Mumbai Indians. This was only the second time since the inception of the IPL in 2008 that CSK didn’t qualify for the playoffs. But in IPL 2023, they bounced back like champions and reached the final of this IPL season as well, which is going to be their 10th IPL final with MS Dhoni wearing the captain’s hat.

Saurav Ganguly while speaking to India today said:

“Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni have been fantastic. They have shown how to win big matches. Dhoni has been remarkable in his captaincy. He has shown how to win big matches.”

Saurav Ganguly is now the director of cricket operations for the Delhi Capitals franchise, but this IPL season didn’t end on a good note for the Delhi Capitals, as they ended at the second-last position of the points table with only 5 wins and 9 losses. The only player who made runs for the Delhi Capitals was David Warner, though he wasn’t that impressive.

Saurav Ganguly named some of the most impressive performers in the IPL this season: Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Dhruv Jurel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

“Rinku Singh has played well, Dhruv Jurel has played well and Yashasvi Jaiswal also did well,” Ganguly said. “Jitesh ( Sharma) played well for Punjab Kings. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma have played well. The IPL is a huge Tournament and they have done exceptionally well.”

MS Dhoni and Co. qualified for the finals of the IPL 2023 after defeating the Gujarat Titans at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, in the qualifier 1 match of the playoffs. CSK is the most successful franchise in the IPL and the first IPL franchise to be on the list of Indian unicorns. The team got the status of a unicorn in the year 2022.
