Battle for the Saudi Pro League Heats Up as Al-Ittihad Edge Ahead of Al-Nassr.

The battle for the Saudi Pro League crown is heating up as Al-Ittihad take a three point lead ahead of Al-Nassr.

Al-Ittihad have taken a major step towards the Saudi Pro League title after beating Al-Batin 1-0 in their latest match. Romarinho scored the only goal of the game with a powerful header in the ninth minute, and his strike has kept Al-Ittihad on top of the standings with 66 points.

The Jeddah club now have a three-point advantage over Al-Nassr, with only two games remaining in the season. Should the two teams finish level on points, then Al-Ittihad would be crowned champions due to their superior head-to-head record.

Meanwhile, Al-Nassr’s hopes of staying in the title race were dealt a blow when they lost 2-0 to Al-Awwal Park. Two goals from Cristian Guanca, including a penalty, saw Al-Nassr slip further behind their rivals.

The match was also significant as it gave Brazilian Talisca his first start for Al-Nassr since joining from Benfica in January. Talisca showed flashes of his quality, but he ultimately could not inspire a comeback.

Al-Ittihad will now be confident they can secure the Saudi Pro League crown, with their last home match against Al-Hilal at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on May 10th. They will then go away to Al-Ahli on the final day of the season, and their game could decide the fate of the title if Al-Nassr can win their remaining two fixtures.

With just two matches left, all eyes will be on Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr in what is set to be a thrilling finale to the season. The title could still swing either way, and it will require a huge effort from both teams in order to win this year’s league crown.
