Simona Halep, the former World No.1, Accuses ITIA of a false drug charge
The former world ranked 1st in women’s single Simona Halep failed the drug test for the second doping offense, which made her accuse the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) of the wrong result they are giving because the 31-year-old Romanian professional Tennis player said that she never took any substance in her life which is illegal substance or drug which help the sports person to increase their performance.
ITIA delayed the hearing of Halep, which happened to be on Monday, which made her question the management and the sports authority about their result.
Simona Halep became number 1 in the WTA ranking on October 9, 2017. She won two Grand Slam women’s singles titles in the 2018 French Open and the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. She is currently on the 30th rank in the WTA as the last time Halep played was on August 29, 2022, in the US Open, in which she lost in the finals against Daria Snigur by 2-6, 6-0, 4-6.
Simona Halep posted a statement on her Social Media account on Monday stating.
While the ITIA via their representative Nicole Sapstead was publicly stating 3 days ago that the ITIA has remained committed to engaging Mrs Halep in an empathetic, efficient and timely manner, they were at the same time officially requesting the Tribunal to delay my hearing… for the third time,”
The ITIA publicly states one thing while privately doing another, I have repeatedly asked for my hearing and the ITIA has repeatedly sought to delay it.” The winner of 24 career titles added that she has a right to a quick hearing, and delaying it was against the norms.
“When is it going to stop? I ask the question once again. I am entitled to a quick hearing. Acting this way is contrary to my rights,
Simona Halep said in the statement on the social Media
ITIA’s senior director Sapstead also gave a statement about the Simona Halep case on Friday that it is sad that whatever the result came is correct, and we know that Miss Halep had the worst time after being charged by the ITIA, but we know that we did nothing wrong and the result is correct without any external handling to it.
