Brett Lee praised Shubhman Gill for his strong wrist and beautiful timing.

Former Australian pacer and one of the most remarkable bowlers in cricket history, Brett Lee, showered praise on Shubhman Gill for his knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 70th match of the TATA IPL 2023. Gujarat Titans were playing their last league stage match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. This was a must-win game for RCB to qualify for the playoffs, as they had 14 points and needed 16 to qualify and knock out the Mumbai Indians from the playoff list.

Batting first, RCB hit 197 runs with the help of Virat Kohli’s 7th IPL ton, and when Gujarat Titans came to bat, every RCB fan just wanted that quick wickets should be taken by RCB bowlers, but the opposite happened as opener Shubhman Gill put on a show at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as he hit his second IPL ton and finished the match with a six while simultaneously completing his century. Gill hit eight sixes and five fours in his century and won the match for his team by six wickets.

“He hit eight sixes. I love how he goes on the leg side. He finds power. That he can do and access because he’s got strong wrists and he’s got beautiful timing.”

Even Brett Lee didn’t back himself from praising the young talent and said

“123 off 71 balls, that was the partnership that broke the back of the RCB bowlers. Yes, it was a wet ball, conditions didn’t really favour the bowlers but you got to give credit where credit is due. They both batted beautifully tonight.”

Shubhman Gill has so far made 680 runs and is in the second spot of the IPL’s orange cap race. Faf Du Plessis is leading the race with 730 runs, but as his team is out of the playoffs race now, Shubhman Gill could become the orange cap holder as he is just 30 runs behind Faf Du Plessis.
