Rafael Nadal is out of the 2023 French Open
Rafael Nadal will not feature in French Open for the first time in the last 19 years after getting injured, and there is a huge chance that he is also going to be retired in 2024 because of frequent injuries.
Nadal won 22 major titles till now, but the way he said things in an interview clearly shows that he is going through a lot of trouble with injury and might take a forever leave from professional tennis. He cried out loud when Roger Federer retired last year.
“I didn’t make the decision, my body made the decision. To play Roland Garros is impossible,” he said.
“Next year will probably be my last year. That is my idea. If I keep going now I won’t be able to make it happen.”
“I was working as much as possible every single day for the past four months and they have been difficult because we were not been able to find the solution to the problems I had in Australia,”
“I’m still in the position where I am not able to feel ready to compete at the standards I need to be to play at Roland Garros.
“I am not the guy who will be at Roland Garros just to try to be there and in a position where I don’t like to be.”
Rafael Nadal said in the interview
He had an amazing record on clay court as he won 112 matches out of 115 at the French Open, and that’s why he is entitled by ‘King of Clay.’ He has been struggling since the Australian Open, which happened in January, and still, he has been struggling with that hip injury. He is now 36 years old and has been one of the most famous athletes in the world for a long time.
