MI vs SRH Match Prediction: Mumbai Indians will host Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on May 21, 2023.

Mumbai Indian’s winning streak was broken in the last match when they lost to Lucknow Super Giants by 5 runs. It was an important match for them as they are fighting for the playoffs, but Mohsin Khan’s amazing last over stopped them from getting the crucial 2 points in the match.

The opening of Mumbai Indians was decent as Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma had a 90 runs partnership, but after that, Suryakumar Yadav’s wickets were a huge turnaround for the Mumbai side. Nehal Wadhera was not able to find his way of hitting and played 20 balls in which he scored just 16 runs.

Tim David tried his best to take his team over the line but was not able to do that just because of Mohsin Khan’s amazing bowling skills. The middle order really saved Mumbai Indians many times, but it’s all about the bowling unit now because the bowling unit of the Mumbai Indians is not performing in season 2023.

Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a huge loss in their previous match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 wickets, and the amazing innings of Henrich Klaasen of 104 went to waste because Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis’s batting dominance grabbed the two points for Bangalore side.

Heinrich Klaasen has been phenomenal for the Sunrisers team, as he scored 430 runs in 11 matches with an amazing strike rate of 179.17. It was such a bad decision for the Sunrisers that they did not give Klaasen chances in the 1st or 2nd down, and that coasted them to lose many matches.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will just enjoy themselves in their last match of IPL 2023 and will need to look forward to the next season.

The bowling unit of Sunrisers Hyderabad was a total failure as their highest wicket-taker is Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who took only 13 wickets in 13 matches, and that too when he took one five-wicket haul. Marco Jansen needs to perform better for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

MI vs SRH: Head-to-Head Record

They always have tough matches against each other, reflecting on their Head-to-Head record. In the last 5 matches, Mumbai Indians won 4 matches, and SunRisers won 1, which clearly shows Mumbai Indians dominated Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In their last encounter against each other, Mumbai Indians won the match by 14 runs, and Cameron Green was the player of the match for his all-round performance.

MI vs SRH: Pitch Report of Wankhede Stadium

Stats from the last 5 matches played on the Wankhede Stadium

Matches Played6
Batting first won1
Batting Second won4
Average first innings score190 runs
Pace bowlers took38 wickets
Spin bowlers Took31 Wickets

Wankhede stadium pitches are mostly batting-friendly, but the trends have changed recently, and everyone gets something from the pitch, like in the last match. Both teams scored decent runs, and spinners and pacers also got wickets, so it was a wicket with a neutral surface.

In the last match on this pitch, there was some help for the spin bowlers, who took 8 wickets altogether in the match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. However, it was a good wicket to bat on, and the batsman got out because of their own fault and wrong choice of shots.

Rashid Khan and Suryakumar Yadav played a brilliant knocks from their respective team, and it was a high-scoring match. There was a bit of due in the ground that made it hard for the bowlers to grip it and bowl some Yorkers.

Team Preview of Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians need a win from their next match, and that win should be a high-margin win for them, or else the net run rate is going to hurt them, and they need favorable results from the other fixtures.

Mumbai Indian’s performance in the second phase of the IPL was amazing, but only the batting unit performed better in many chasing matches.

The bowling unit still needs more improvement because the bowlers of the Mumbai Indains are not taking wickets regularly, which is coasting them to lose 2 points in most matches. Rohit was not happy with their performance in their last match against the Lucknow Super Giants, in which they lost to them by 5 runs.

We didn’t play well enough to win the game. There were little moments in the game that we didn’t win unfortunately. We assessed the pitch really well and it was a good pitch to bat on and that score was definitely chaseable and we lost our way in the second half of the innings. We gave too many runs at the back end and the last three overs went for a few. But the way we started with the bat we were in a good position to chase, but like I said we lost our way in the second half.

Rohit Sharma said in post match presentation

The bowlers need to step up, especially their pace bowling department, but Mumbai Indians have been unlucky with the number of injuries their main player faced which made their two main bowlers take an exit from IPL very early.

Important player of the team for the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad

1- Ishan Kishan can be the real deal for the Mumbai Indians in their next match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad because his form of Kishan is pretty good, and his touch is amazing. In the last few matches, he got a great start from the ball one but was not able to convert it into a big score which could be the next match for them.

2- Cameron Green can once again play the innings, giving him a Player of the Match award as he did in the last match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

3- Piyush Chawla can be a wicket-taker spinner for the Mumbai side because Sunrisers Hyderabad have many right-hand batters who might be in trouble against an experienced spinner like Chawla.

Team Preview of Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad will enjoy themselves in their last match of the season 2023, in which they might give a chance to many new players and give rest to the players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who played every match of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

SRH needs to change its team management for the next IPL because they were the worst management side in the whole IPL.

Mayank Agarwal might get one more chance to show what he got, and Rahul Tripathi needs to end his worst IPL season in a good way if he wants to be picked in the next IPL auction.

We batted pretty well. We could have found a little runs out there in the powerplay. Great contribution from Klaasen. But still was a good score. Great support for not just us but for RCB as well. We couldn’t give them a win. We all hate losing. We would be out there looking for a win.

Aiden Markram said in the Post Match presentation

The team should sign a few all-rounders in the next IPL auction because they need two proper all-rounders in their team. Glenn Philips needs to perform better in the next match against the Mumbai Indians if he wishes to be included in the next season.

The team is having some issues in the dugout because their captain Aiden Markram doesn’t know why SRH team management is not giving a chance to Umran Malik a to play more matches in IPL 2023.

Important players of the team against Mumbai Indians

1- Mayank Markande can be a key bowler for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next match against his former side Mumbai Indians. He had a decent season but will look to improve his form as he just picked 9 wickets in 10 matches he played.

2- Rahul Tripathi can be crucial in the next match and must prove himself in this IPL. He needs to end the IPL season 2023 on a good note.

3- Adil Rashid is the most underrated bowler in the T20, and in IPL 2023, he got only one or two matches under his name, which is really disappointing from the Sunrirsers Hyderabad management.
