“I don’t know what’s behind the scenes,” says Aiden Markram on Umran Malik’s omission.

SRH’s captain Aiden Markram recently said in a pre-match presentation that he has no idea why Umran Malik is not playing, quoting his exact words while answering the question asked about Umran Malik.

“Not too sure to be honest. Certainly, he’s a player with the X-factor, bowls at 150kph, but I don’t really know what’s behind the scenes but he has a lot of X-factor,”

Aiden Markram on Umran Malik

the pacer didn’t perform well in the IPL 2023 season. Umran Malik has played 7 matches this season for Sunrisers Hyderabad and took only 5 wickets. After his 7th match, he was not included in the playing XI by Sunrisers Hyderabad, of course, due to his poor performance. After saying these words, reactions started coming from the cricket community. Harsha Bhogle tweeted on his Twitter account, saying that

“Not too sure to be honest. Certainly, he’s a player with the X-factor, bowls at 150kph, but I don’t really know what’s behind the scenes but he has a lot of X-factor,”

Harsha Bhogle on Aiden Markram’s Statements

Harsha Bhogle wasn’t the first person to show his disappointment with SRH’s management and their way of just sidelining one of the fastest bowlers in the IPL; even former Indian speedster Zaheer Khan also showed his disappointment on this issue and said that Umran Malik wasn’t handled well by SRH’s management. Former Indian cricketers like Irfan Pathan said the same thing before anyone was talking about it.

Umran Malik made headlines in 2022 when he shocked everyone with his pace. The right-arm pacer bowls with absolute intensity and power; his fastest ball clocked 156 kph, which is insane for an Indian bowler. Plus,  in 2022 he got the emerging player award for the season, and no wonder he deserved that as he took 22 wickets in 14 matches and stunned every batter with his pace, but this year his performance took a downward curve.
