Manchester City rout Real Madrid 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium to reach the Champions League Final!

Manchester City seal their place in the Champions League final with a dominant 5-1 aggregate win over Real Madrid, courtesy of goals from Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Eder Militao.

Manchester City are through to the final of the Champions League after a stunning 5-1 aggregate win over Real Madrid. In an outstanding performance, Pep Guardiola‘s side routed their Spanish counterparts 4-0 in the second leg at Etihad Stadium, with Bernardo Silva scoring twice in the first half and Eder Militao putting through his own net before Julian Alvarez added a fourth in stoppage time.

The victory marked the end of an incredible run for Guardiola’s team, which saw them remain unbeaten in their last 23 matches, with 15 wins at the Etihad Stadium during that period.

In what was a dominant display by City, Silva opened the scoring on 28 minutes when he slotted a shot past Thibaut Courtois. Sergio Ramos‘ handball in the box allowed Raheem Sterling to double the lead from the penalty spot on 38 minutes and just before the break, Silva added his second with a brilliant chip over Courtois.

Real Madrid tried to rally after the interval but could not find a way past a stubborn City defence. Any hope of a comeback was crushed when Militao put the ball into his own net on 72 minutes, and Alvarez sealed the win with an emphatic finish in stoppage time.

The victory sets up an incredible final for Citizens fans as their side will face Chelsea or Manchester United later this month, to decide who will become the 2018/19 Champions League champions.
