SRH vs LSG Match Prediction: Sunrisers Hyderabad once again go against Lucknow Super Giants at Rajiv International Stadium, Hyderabad, on May 13th, 2023.
Sunrisers Hyderabad got a gift from heaven in the last match when they won the match against the Rajasthan Royals by 4 wickets, but it was a match that will be written in the IPL’s most interesting matches.
Sunrisers needed 5 runs in 1 ball, and Sandeep Sharma almost got the ball right, but his foot went outside the line, which made that delivery no-ball which gave another chance to Abdul Samad, and he grabbed that with both hands by hitting six to take his team over the line.
When I went in to bat, it wasn’t an easy situation. Phillips gave us the injection. Was waiting for the ball to hit in the slot. Luckily got no ball as well. Umpire told us only one run would be given. Was waiting for the ball in the right area to hit. Phillips is the game-changer for us. We are still in the game (tournament). Look forward to carry this momentum in the remaining matches as well.
Abdul Samad said in the Post Match presentation.
It was a team performance by the Sunrisers Hyderabad team because, except for Aiden Markram, everyone in the team contributed in the match against the Rajasthan Royals, which kept them alive in the race for the playoffs in the IPL 2023.
Glenn Philips was the game-changer in the match as he scored 25 runs in 7 balls, and Abdul Samad used his lucky chance to give his team two crucial points. The way emotions changed suddenly in just a span of 1 min was a heartful thing for the Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad teams.
The next match of Sunrisers Hyderabad is against Lucknow Super Giants, who are not in good form, and it is a good time for them to take advantage of it and grab two more points to give them a chance to qualify for the playoffs.
Lucknow Super Giants lost their last match against the Gujarat Titans by a huge margin of 56 runs, and it is been just a phase for the Lucknow team because they lost their last 3 out of 4 matches. They had a solid start to the match when Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock built up a partnership of 88 runs.
The bowling once again failed to restrict the opposition to a low score, and after that, the middle-order batsmen failed to capitalize on the foundation which their opener gave them. Yash Thakur was super expensive as he conceded 48 runs in just 4 overs, and Deepak Hooda once again failed to score big.
Lucknow Super Giants need to get hold of themselves together because if they lose their next match, they will be out of playoff contention. It is going to be or die match for them against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Gautam Gambhir needs to calm himself down and his teammates because he is not behaving like a coach to his team, which is quite visible in their performance.
SRH vs LSG: Head-to-Head Record
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants played two matches against each other in which the Lucknow Super Giants team won both of them.
The last match they played was on April 7, 2023, in IPL season 2023, and in that match, Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 5 wickets after chasing down the low total of 127 runs in just 16 overs. Krunal Pandya was the player of the match for his amazing performance. He took 3 wickets and scored 34 runs to give his team a comfortable win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad side.
It will be a must-win match for the Sunrisers Hyderabad to keep themselves in the race of qualification, but if they lose, then they will lose their chance to play in the playoffs.
SRH vs LSG: Pitch Report of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad
Matches Played | 69 |
Batting first won | 31 |
Batting second won | 38 |
Average 1st innings batting score | 166 |
Pace Bowlers Took | 517 Wickets |
Spin Bowlers Took | 215 Wickets |
The last match on this pitch was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders, which favored more batters and pace bowlers rather than spin bowlers, who were been smashed down the ground, but it was the spinner who saved 9 runs in 6 balls in the last match.
The pitch offers everything as spinners, pacers, and batters enjoyed their game in the first match. It is one of the best neutral pitches on which players’ ability will decide their performance, not the pitch going to favor the type of players.
In recent times, the Pitch at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium favored spinners more than batters and pacers. But as this will be the first match, that pitch will be new, and we can see a few good scoring totals of around 160-170, but later on, we will see the spinners leading the match. The first match played on this pitch was between SunRisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals, which was one-sided.
Team Preview of Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad are at the 2nd from the bottom of the table with just 8 points, but their last magical win against the Rajasthan Royals was like another chance for them to keep the team in the race to qualify for the qualification in IPL 2023.
In the last match, their batting unit performed really with as a unit, and everyone contributed something to their win, but the main player who gave them hope in the rest of the league was Abdul Samad, who once failed to finish the match when he had a chance against the Kolkata Knight Riders, but in the last match when he had to hit 4 or six to keep the playoffs under their reach he did it with a six to give the two crucial point to the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Glenn Philips grabbed his chance with both hands when he was included in the team in place of Harry Brook, who did nothing in the whole season except for just 1 century against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Philips scored 25 runs in just 7 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 1 four to keep his team in the match and give chance to Abdul Samad to finish the match for them.
Heinrich Klaasen is one of the finest players in the world right now across all the formats of cricket, and in the last match, he also contributed quite well for the team as he scored 26 runs in just 12 balls to give great momentum to the team, which carried by Glenn Philips and Abdul Samad.
Aiden Markram was super happy with their performance, which he said in the post-match presentation.
Emotions turned quite quickly, nice for us to get over the line. Chasing 215 isn’t easy, and guys contributed all along to chase a big target. We knew in a quick outfield like this we’ll score more than expected, but we had to be aggressive. Abhishek started up off, and then Tripathi gave him company. Then those cameos from Phillips and Klaasy. (On Samad’s finishing skills) I think you got to train it, and put yourself under pressure. You are playing high risk cricket, so that’s where technique comes in.
Aiden Markram said in the Post Match presentation
Abhishek Sharma has been scoring consistently since being included in the team, and in the last match, he scored 55 runs in 34 balls and also bowled two good overs for the team.
Sunrisers Hyderabad does have a problem in the bowling department because they don’t have any backup spinner in their side to replace Mayank Markande, who was super expensive in his last match, conceding 51 runs in just 4 overs.
In the last match against the Lucknow Super Giants, the batting unit was clueless and was able to make just 121 runs in 20 overs which was below the par score. Aiden Markram needs to perform in the team to keep his team spirit high for the rest of the IPL. However, it will be very difficult for them to qualify for the playoffs this year.
Team Preview of Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow Super Giants had an amazing first phase of the season, but after 6-7 matches, they started to lose every match, and in their last 6 matches, they won just 2 and lost 3.
The Gujarat batters smashed down the bowling unit of Lucknow Super Giants, and they could take only two wickets in the match. The opening stand of the Lucknow Super Giants team was the best start they got in the whole IPL season of 2023.
Quinton de Kock got a chance to play in the IPL and showed that Lucknow Super Giants made the wrong decision not giving him a chance before. He scored 70 runs in just 41 balls which is an amazing feat by them, and with Kyle Mayers, they were firing from the start.
Krunal was not happy with the bowling department, which he said in his post-match presentation.
We gave too many runs in the first innings. When it’s 227, you have to go hard every over. The surface played really well. The batters said it was a good wicket to bat on. Had we restricted them to 200-210, we would have had a chance.
Krunal Pandya said in the Post Match presentation.
The middle order of the Lucknow Super Giants was a total flop. They collapsed and were able to score only 171 runs. The team management of Lucknow Super Giants is worst because they are still unable to find their best 11, which is making them make changes, but they are not replacing Deepak Hooda, who has not been performing in the team since the start of the season.
The only positive they have for the next match is that they won their last head-to-head match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the start of the season, in which they won the match by 5 wickets. Krunal Pandya was the player of the match in their last head-to-head match, and this time, he will be leading the side after KL Rahul was ruled out of the IPL.
Lucknow Super Giants have a good record in the away matches because they lost almost every match they played on the home ground in the IPL season 2023.
Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis need to be more consistent for the team because they perform in only 1 out of 5 matches which is not acceptable in the IPL.
