Jofra Archer is out of the IPL 2023 due to an elbow injury; Chris Jordan would be his replacement.
England’s right-arm pace sensation, Jofra Archer, after coming back to the international matches earlier this year, has now again been injured while playing in the IPL. He was having some soreness in his elbow while playing for the Mumbai Indians this season and went to Belgium for a short time during the IPL season for a minor surgery but to no relief. Mumbai Indians included Jofra Archer in their playing XI in the initial matches of the IPL 2023, but the pacer’s injury issues were far from getting over, due to which MI had to change their playing XI sometimes.
As of now, Jofra Archer is officially out for the rest of the matches and has returned to England for his rehab. MI signed his teammate Chris Jordan as his replacement for the upcoming matches of the IPL 2023. Jofra Archer’s rehabilitation will be closely monitored by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Chris Jordan, who has experience playing IPL matches, would be a good replacement. He has so far played for four IPL franchises in different seasons of the IPL (CSK, RCB, SRH, and Punjab Kings), and now in IPL 2023, when the race for the playoffs intensifies, he will be donning the blue jersey this time and can provide the stability that is needed in the bowling department of the Mumbai Indians, especially in death overs.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), in their official press release, said these lines:
“Pushing through the discomfort whilst recently playing, hoping it will settle, has proven challenging,” “Therefore, it has been agreed for him to return to the UK for a period of rest and rehabilitation to give him the best opportunity for a full recovery.
“Archer will return to the UK this week and will work on his rehab with the ECB medical department and Sussex County Cricket Club, respectively.”
