Ishan Kishan inducted into India’s test squad post KL Rahul’s injury:

KL Rahul, the Indian right-handed batter and captain of the Lucknow Super Giants in an IPL match against RCB, injured himself during fielding. Ishan Kishan was named as his replacement for the WTC final. The thigh injury of KL Rahul was so severe that he was ruled out of the rest of the IPL matches and the World Test Championship final against Australia. The final of the WTC is going to happen in England at the Oval in the month of June.

The left-handed wicketkeeper batter was selected as his replacement by the All India Senior Selection Committee on Monday, May 8, 2023. Ishan Kishan is the second wicketkeeper batter in India’s squad after KS Bharat, who made his debut this year against Australia. Prior to the injury of KL Rahul, Jaydev Unadkat injured his left shoulder while bowling in the nets. The BCCI hasn’t taken any decision yet on Jaydev Unadkat, and there are possibilities of him playing in the final of the WTC.

Umesh Yadav is yet another name on the list of injured players, though he is trying to recover from the hamstring injury by doing low-intensity bowling, and BCCI medical officials are working closely with the Kolkata Knight Riders team to study the player’s progress. If everything goes well, then Umesh Yadav can be seen in action at the WTC final.

India’s test squad looks promising as big players like Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, etc. are part of the team. Ajinkya Rahane is also included in the squad for the finale. Ishan Kishan’s inclusion in the team will strengthen the team, as Ishan Kishan has experience in playing international matches, but if he played in the finals of the WTC, that would be his debut test match, and that would be a great opportunity for him to show his caliber to play test matches for the Indian cricket team.
