Rahul Tripathi came to the crease to support Abhishek Sharma, and the duo started scoring runs from both ends. In the 13th over of the innings, Abhishek Sharma got out in the over of Ravichandran Ashwin after making his fifty, and Heinrich Klaasen entered the ground and started powering the balls out of the park. Glenn Phillips three consecutive sixes in the penultimate over ignited hope in the Sunrisers Hyderabad dugout, and Abdul Samad capitalized on the opportunity when SRH required 17 runs in the final over of the innings. SRH required a miracle, and it did happen. Abdul Samad hit a six in the last ball of the match to win it for his team.

In the second ball, Abdul Samad hit it over long on for a six, and the runs required to win the match came to 9 in 4 balls.

Abdul Samad and Marco Jansen managed to score only 5 runs in the next 3 balls, but the no-ball delivery by Sandeep Sharma in the last ball of the match gave the match another twist. With 4 runs required in the last ball, Abdul Samad held his nerve and deposited the ball in the stands, winning the match for his team. This was the highest-ever run chase by Sunrisers Hyderabad against the Rajasthan Royals.
