Jos Buttler was now joined by the captain, Sanju Samson, and they both started making runs from both ends. Jos Buttler started changing gears, and the duo started dealing with boundaries. Jos Buttler was crawling towards his 6th IPL century, but Bhubaneswar Kumar dismissed him with a scintillating yorker in the 19th over of their innings. Buttler scored 95 runs in 58 balls, while Sanju Samson completed his fifty. It was the third half-century of Sanju Samson this season.

The duo started making runs and tried to give a solid start to their team, and they had a partnership of 51 runs, but Anmolpreet Singh in the last over of the powerplay gave his wicket to Yuzvendra Chahal, Anmolpreet Singh scored 31 runs in 24 balls.
Rahul Tripathi came to the crease to support Abhishek Sharma, and the duo started scoring runs from both ends. In the 13th over of the innings, Abhishek Sharma got out in the over of Ravichandran Ashwin after making his fifty, and Heinrich Klaasen entered the ground and started powering the balls out of the park. Yuzvendra Chahal got rid of the Klassen in the 16th over when SRH was running behind by 58 runs.

Glenn Phillips three consecutive sixes in the penultimate over ignited hope in the Sunrisers Hyderabad dugout, and Abdul Samad capitalized on the opportunity when SRH required 17 runs in the final over of the innings. SRH required a miracle, and it did happen. Abdul Samad hit a six in the last ball of the match to win it for his team.

In the very first ball, when Abdul Samad tried to hit the ball in the stands, it got lifted high in the air, but Obed McCoy failed to take the simple catch. In the second ball, Abdul Samad hit it over long on for a six, and the runs required to win the match came to 9 in 4 balls.
Abdul Samad and Marco Jansen managed to score only 5 runs in the next 3 balls, but the no-ball delivery by Sandeep Sharma in the last ball of the match gave the match another twist. With 4 runs required in the last ball, Abdul Samad held his nerve and deposited the ball in the stands, winning the match for his team. This was the highest-ever run chase by Sunrisers Hyderabad against the Rajasthan Royals.
