Mohammed Siraj had a heated altercation with Philip Salt in the DC vs RCB match.

In the 50th match of the IPL 2023 between DC and RCB, Delhi Capitals beat RCB at their home ground, Arun Jaitley Stadium. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to put 181 runs on the scoreboard with the help of Mahipal Lomror’s unbeaten knock of 54 runs in just 29 balls. Later, DC’s openers David Warner and Philip Salt put on a show, and the Delhi Capitals chased the target of 182 runs in just 16.4 overs. But the incident that caught the media’s and people’s eyes was the heated altercation between Mohammad Siraj and Philip Salt.

Philip Salt and David Warner, from the very first over, started giving the hint that they were not going to back down on scoring runs and hit some great shots. Philip Salt in the second-last over of the powerplay hit Siraj for two consecutive sixes followed by a boundary, and then things got a little heated as Siraj exchanged some words and Philip Salt didn’t back off himself. Both Siraj and Salt charged towards each other and had a heated argument. Siraj even went on to gesture for Salt to be quiet. Later, David Warner calmed the situation, and both players got separated from each other.

Philip Salt (Post match):

Philip Salt, after playing a match-winning knock of 87 runs, got out in the 15th over of the innings, but to no benefit to the RCB as he already did the required damage, and with his knock, DC chased the target in 16.4 overs. Salt said during the post-match presentation that he and his team were ready to take on RCB, and they had a lot of pre-match talk about taking it to them. He looked satisfied with this knock and spoke some words.

“I am very satisfied with the knock. Obviously, there was a little bit of a needle. Their boys were up for the last game when we were in Bangalore. So a lot of the pre-match chat was about really taking it to them, which I felt that we did really well. There were a few words and a bit of needle, but most blokes were up for it, certainly myself,” 

“It was. I feel like if you take on a side’s best bowler a lot of the times and you win that particular battle, whether it’s the first over or any over that he bowls, the message that it sends back into the dugout is one of calm,” he added.
