MI vs RCB Match Prediction: Mumbai Indians will host Royal Challengers Bangalore at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on May 9th, 2023.
Mumbai Indians will once again be going to face Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next match. They lost their last match against the Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets, and once again, their top order failed to score runs.
Rohit hit the record for most ducks by any player in IPL history. He got their record when he got out on a duck against the Chennai Super Kings side, and it was his 16th duck in the IPL. He has struggled in IPL and T20 formats for the last 2 years. He scored only 5 matches in the last 4 matches, and now he needs to make a big decision about whether he should be on the team or will give someone else a chance to make a difference for the team.
Rohit was also disappointed on the batting side because they were not able to put runs on the board, and the Chennai Super Kings side chased down the total easily.
we didn’t bat well enough, didn’t put enough runs for the bowlers to defend. We had an off-day as a batting unit. We just did what we felt was comfortable (on him going down to 3), needed an Indian batter to bat in the middle overs against spin after unfortunately losing Tilak Varma, but we lost three wickets for just 16 runs.
Rohit Sharma Said in the Post Match.
It is going to be tough for the Mumbai Indians to qualify for the playoff this year, but now, if they lose one more match, then they are out of the playoff race for sure.
Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their last match against the Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets for the first time of the season. Delhi Capital’s batting side took responsibility for the team and ran over the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.
Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis once again gave the team the best start they could, but Maxwell failed to score any run and got out on the first ball of Marsh. Mohammed Siraj was hammered like a hot metal by Philip Salt after they argued on the field.
The bowlers of Royal Challengers Bangalore smashed around the ground, and Delhi chased down a decent total of 187 runs in just 16.4 overs.
It will be hard for Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers to go up against the mighty batting lineup of Mumbai Indians, but we all hope they will put up a fight.
MI vs RCB: Head-to-head Record

The last match they played against each other was a one-sided match in which Royal Challengers Bangalore won the game by 8 wickets. Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli single-handedly chase down a decent total of 172 in just 16.2 overs.
MI vs RCB: Pitch Report of Wankhede Stadium

Average first innings score | 187 runs |

Spin bowlers Took | 20 Wickets |
Wankhede stadium pitches are mostly batting-friendly, but the trends have changed recently, and everyone gets something from the pitch, like in the last match. Both teams scored decent runs, and spinners and pacers also got wickets, so it was a wicket with a neutral surface.
The last match on Wankhede Stadium was between Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals, which turned out to be a high-scoring match. Yashasvi Jaiswal showed the world why he is great as he scored 124 runs in innings to take his team total to 212, but in the end, it was amazing hitting by Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma, and Tim David, who made their team win the match by 6 wickets.
Spinners and pace bowlers were decent, but it was a batting-friendly pitch. Now it is going to be 5th match on the pitch, so that will make the ground dryer and offer more assistance for the spin bowlers. The scoring rate will also go down.
If the pitch favors spinners, then it will benefit the Royal Challengers Bangalore team more because they are more reliable in their spin department, which cleared seen in the last match when the dew came up, and the spinners of Royal Challengers Bangalore were not able to grip the bowl.
Team Preview of Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians are in the 6th place in the points table with 10 points in hand, but their last loss against the Chennai Super Kings made it tough for them to be in the race for the Playoffs. Still, anything is possible in this season of IPL because we have seen more than enough incidents in IPL 2023 to make us believe that anything can happen.
Mumbai Indians once again failed to score runs as their top order failed, and now it is high time for the Mumbai Indian’s management to take a harsh calling on Rohit Sharma’s position in the Playing XI because he is not performing at all for them. Rohit needs to be braver to make way for someone more deserving of the spot. Right now, Rohit’s form is worse than we can understand.
In the last encounter against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indian’s top order was a total failure, but this time, they needed to perform well because if they did not, then it’s going to be hard for bowlers to defend a low total.
Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green need to be consistent with their performance as they only perform in 1 out of 5 matches which is not the right way for any team if they are fighting for qualification in any tournament.
In the bowling department, Piyush Chawla is the only player who takes wickets regularly and bowls beautifully, which is a statement for any young bowler to show how it is down even when you are 35 years old. He has taken 17 wickets till now in 10 games, and even in the last match, he was the only Mumbai Indian bowler who took two wickets against the Chennai Super Kings side. Rohit Sharma also praised Piyush Chawal for his bowling in the last match.
He’s bowling really well (on Piyush Chawla), the other bowlers need to rally around him, that’s what the team needs, everyone has to come forward and chip in contributions.
Rohit Sharma said in the post match interview.
It was unfortunate that Tilak Verma suffered from an injury before the last match, which made him ruled out of the match, but it was not a serious one so it is possible that he is going to play in the next match because Tilak has been a great contributor to the team since last year.
Nehal Wadhera was the only batsman who crossed the 30-run mark and played an amazing inning of 64 runs in 51 balls. He scored his first half-century of the IPL, and this season, he has already scored a few good knocks.
Team Preview of Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore are still in contention to qualify for the playoff after their last match defeated against the Delhi Capital side. They are now at the 5th spot with 10 points in the points table of IPL 2023 and will look to grab 2 points against the side they defeated in their opening match of the IPL season 2023.
It was a dominating performance in their last match against the Mumbai Indians, as they won the match by 8 wickets. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis’s amazing batting led their team to win the match easily, and since then, only these two batters have been performing consistently for the team.
Royal Challengers have an issue with their batting and especially the bowling side. In the last match, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowlers were outplayed by the Delhi Capitals bowlers, and now they need to perform better in their next match, which will be at Wankhede Stadium that is more of batting friendly pitch rather than bowling-friendly.
One of the things which Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Management should look out for is Mohammed Siraj’s behavior, which is not acceptable even if you are performing best in the team. He is not even a great player right now, and there is a lot to prove in the future but the attitude he has and show to other is just not right. In the last match, Siraj had a fight with Philip Salt when he smashed him for two sixes, and a verbal argument was not necessary from Siraj.
Faf du Plessis was not happy with the bowling department, as he said in the post-match interview after the match.
I felt it was pretty close, I thought 185 was a pretty good score. The dew took the spinners out of the game, but credit to them (DC batters) as well. You like your spinners in the game, but you need to bowl in the right areas despite of the dew.
Faf du Plessis said in the Post Match at interview.
The one big positive for them in the last match was Mahipal Lomror’s performance. He scored 54 runs in 29 balls, and RCB will be hoping to see the same performance in the future also because the middle order of RCB is not performing at all in the IPL season 2023.
